5/15/2010

At 13:36 Company 9 and Squad 9 were dispatched to call for an MVC on Rt 460 near the intersection of Circle K Rd. Engine 9 arrived on scene to find single vehicle rollover with 1 patient injured. Engine 9,  Brush 9-2 and Command 9 staff mitigated scene hazards. Advanced Life Support staff from Company 9 assisted Medic 9-3 in transporting patient who was seriously injured.

 

4/04/2010

Company 9 was dispatched for a possible 3 vehicle MVC on Rt 460 in front of Montvale Elementary School. Engine 9 arrived on scene to single vehicle MVC  with no patient found.

4/03/2010

Company 9 dispatched for MVC on Rt 460 in the S-Curves. Engine 9 responded to find vehicle as pictured, minimal fluids leaking. Crew disconnected vehicle battery and mitigated fluid spill.

Company 9 dispatched for MVC Rt 460.

3/23/2010

Company 9 along with Medic 14-9 was dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVC at the intersection of Goose Creek Valley Road and West Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike.  Medic 14-9 was first on scene of  a T-Bone type collision with one patient still inside the first vehicle and no patient found from second vehicle. Engine 9 arrived on scene and Captain 9 assumed command. Engine 9 crew and 14-9 staff extricated patient by removing driver’s side door. Pt successfully extricated and transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital by Medic 14-9.

Fires

 

5/16/2010

Company 9 was dispatched for a call at 17:50 to a call for a structure fire. Chief 9 arrived first on scene to find a fully involved outbuilding approximately 30 feet from a residence. Engine 9 was assigned initial fire attack and exposure protection. Additional Company 9 units on scene were Tanker 9 and Pumper 9. Wagon 1 supplied manpower.

5/10/2010

Pumper 9, Tanker 9, Wagon 9, Medic 14-9, and RS2 responded to call for hay bales on fire on Rt 460. Wagon 9 arrived to find trailer of hay bales on fire and passed command. RS2 arrived on scene and assumed command. With the assistance of Medic 14-9, Tanker 9 and Pumper 9 as well as a local heavy equipment company the fire was quickly extinguished and eastbound lane of Rt 460 re-opened to traffic.

4/11/2010

In the early afternoon hours, Company 9 was dispatched to a call for a brush fire in the area of Murray Hollow Rd. Brush 9, Brush 9-A, Tanker 9 and Utility 9 responded along with County 1401. Units arrived to find a less than half an acre brush fire on private property. Fire was quickly controlled and extinguished.

Later that afternoon, Engine 9 responded with ALS staff for an EMS call, initially dispatched as a patient fallen from moving vehicle. RS2 and Medic 9-3 also responded. Engine 9 arrived first on scene. After assessing patient, Lifeguard 10 was requested and additional Company 9 units   (Brush 9, Brush 9-A and Utility 9) assisted with landing zone set-up as well as patient transfer.

04/03/2010

Company 9 dispatched as second due to Company 1 at 3288 West Lynchburg Salem Turnpike for a reported outdoor shed on fire with exposures being threatened. Engine 9, Tanker 9, and  Pumper 9 responded. Engine 1 arrived to find heavy fire showing from an outdoor building and extension into the rear of the private dwelling.Engine 9 was initially assigned RIT duties until Rescue 13 arrived. Tanker 9 and Pumper 9 assisted with water supply and manpower.

 


03/24/2010

Company 9 was toned out as second due for a possible structure fire with Company 1.  Brush 9, Brush 9-2 and Tanker 9 responded. Unit from Bedford Fire Department arrived first on scene to find that it was not a structure fire but about a 3 acre brush fire on Rocky Ford Road in the 6000 block.  Company 9 assisted in cutting a fire line and also with water supply.
